900 a month for 700 sq feet is a lot of money in this area. It is even more when the heat is out for 2 weeks straight, 4 separate times!!! They will lie to you about everything. I did some freelance work for them and they paid me 4 months late, and the check bounced! They are having major fiance issues. With that they will treat there tenets like —-. They owe me 2430$. Do expect to see your security deposit back or explanation of why you did not get it back. They are a shady company… I know of 4 buildings are infested with rats! Call any pest control office in Royal Oak, MI and they will tell you the company is overwhelmed with rats. They just do not take care of the buildings, just do cosmetic work.

Urbane Apartments are wonderful! Their renting specialist, Heather, is amazing. She showed me apartment after apartment without reservation and helped hurry along the move-in process without complaint. In addition to that, the set up of these apartments is awesome. Very urbane (hence, urbane) and sophisticated while still feeling homey and inviting. Although I am paying more now than I did in my Novi apartment before that, it is so worth it! The majority of apartments in Royal Oak are old and unkept and charge only a fraction less than Urbane. I felt that the price increase with UA was more than worth it. The amount of ammenities that come along with this apartment are well-worth it. In addition to that, I have had only one need/call for maintenance and it was a non-urgent issue that was fixed completely in less than 24 hours; outstanding.
A+ to Urbane

I’ll write a long, detailed review later. For now, I would just like to say, these are the best landlords that I’ve ever had after about 15 years of renting. Example: I logged in a complaint that my heater wasn’t quite working and I heard back from them within 3 minutes. A service person was here within 30. On a Saturday of a long weekend!
Great apartments, engaged in the community (see http://www.urbaneblog.com), and trying to run their business in a way that is customer-friendly. They charge a bit more than market here, but the quality of the apartments and the service makes it well worth it. Highly recommended.

I love what this little company is doing — taking over crappy, old buildings and breathing new life into them and making them fun. I have a tiny studio with an awesome view, full kitchen with granite counters, and a shower with dual showerheads.
Pros:
1) Location, location, location — can walk to everything
2) I love the apartment — decent finishings, I’m proud of my place
3) Friendly staff is very reasonable and always in a good moodCons:
1) Utility bills are bizarrely high in the winter. Bills that are included at other places are NOT here (trash, water, heat, sewer) is divided up. Reasonable in the summer, ancient, ineffienent boiler means $150 to heat a tiny studio in the winter.
2) Some noise (but hey, you chose to live close to the party!)
3) Lack of storageHave been here over a year and a half — very happy, though I might consider upgrading to a bigger pad.
