Kudos to Urbane Maintenance!!
Posted by kim@urbane | Filed under Uncategorized
Hi Kim and Eric,
I wanted to send you a quick note to let you know how pleased I am with the maintenance guy that fixed the drain in my tub today. Unfortunately, I forget his name, but I think he might be new. Since I moved in here, I have had a problem with the drain on my tub. It gets plugged constantly and backed up. Someone would come out, snake it, and it would work fine for a week. Then the problem would occur again. I got to the point to where I would just tolerate it.
I decided last night to put in another maintenance request in to fix it. I told the maintenance guy when he came that the snaking only works temporarily. He said he’d try to snake it and then see what he could find. He said that the snaking wasn’t doing much and decided to check the pipes and plumbing in the crawlspace. After three hours, of him working very diligently, he came up and told me that I shouldn’t have anymore issues. He said that there were plastic razors in the connector leading to the sewage line and a host of other things in there. Since I don’t shave in the shower nor use plastic razors, I had a feeling this has been there prior to me moving in two years ago.
Now, the drain runs better than ever before, and I can actually enjoy my showers. I know I have mentioned in at least one prior maintenance request that this is an ongoing issue. I am glad he took ownership of the issue and didn’t settle for a temporary fix.
I hope you both had a great Christmas.
Take care,
Eric Mills

Re: Your Maintenance Request at Urbane
Hi, Ashley!
Thanks for your email. I know that I have had many requests and almost all of them have been fixed. However, my doorknob is still the same. I think that it might be on order or something. It works fine though, no big deal.
I hope that you have a great weekend!
Josh

Hey Josh!
When our maintenance crew comes back tonight, I’ll ask about your doorknob. Glad to know things are going well. Have a great weekend as well, and I’ll be in touch with news about your doorknob soon.

Heather,
I’m sorry this has taken me so long to send you this review. I’ve been so busy with school and work I just haven’t had the time to complete this.
I don’t think that I could say enough positive things about the model housing option. All of my family members live out of state. This option has been so convenient for both me and them. Not only can they stay at a location close to me, but they have the convince of bringing their pets along with them. It has really made a differences in their comfort when they come to the area to visit. I’m really grateful that Urbane Apartments offers this to their residents. Thanks again! Hannah
Landlords and Residents Talk
Posted by Eric Brown | Filed under Uncategorized
From @EasyTurbo
I’ve lived in cheap, expensive, luxurious, and run-of-the-mill type apartments, and the one thing I have always loved about Urbane is the continued effort to stay connected with your residence, whether it’s via Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Blogs, Community forums, or just a wave hello.
When the Landlords and residents come together, it not only brings enlightenment to both camps, but it creates a small scale of deeper accountability.
If I’ve never seen the face, or heard the words of the person who is renting me my space, there’s a complete disconnect and a complete disregard. Would you return a borrwed item to your best friend in the same condition you’d return that borrowed item to a store?
This idea not only allows for a more productive relationship between both parties, but it allows both parties to feel even more involved in their community as a team, not as one lone individual.
Urbane: You really have set the bar.

Hi Kelly, I’ll put in a service request. I don’t know what we can do about the stove top. We’ll see what we can do about the other items. The attached checklist should be completed and sent back within the next week.

Hi Kim,
Okay…I went and checked out the apt. and it looks great, but I have just a few concerns….the stove is not stable…like it moves very easily…like a piece of the leg on the bottom is missing…also, I don’t know if you all have a check list of things you notice when moving in, but the stove top is all scratched and gauged up. Also, the dishwasher is kind of gross on the bottom (stained/gray/brown and in the cupboards the shelves are falling. Those are just a few things I noticed. I know you all busted yourselves to get this apartment ready and I do appreciate it, but I just wanted you all to be aware of the things I noticed when I went in today.
Thanks,
Kelly Beke

Little Upkeep Maintenace but Decent Apartments at High Price

I must say that the apartments themselves are nice. You pay a price for that though. While things look good on the surface, once you live there you find out a lot of their faults…
1) crazy utility pricing. take entire bill and just divide equally between # of residents. I dont trust the cost either. Average monthly payment is $120!
2) little to no maintenance/upkeep. unfurinished basement w/ 2 washers and 2 dryers. takes forever for them to fix an issue.
3) compared to other places, with same square footing, it costs a lot more
4) parking (at my place) is a real issue.
The main issue is just they try to exude a hip/cool/fun lifestyle, and I bought into that but in reality the apartment is old and I feel they do not take care of residents like me who pay almost $10,000 annually.
